Dr. Kristen recently became board certified in Periodontics and Implant Dentistry. Board certification recognizes the achievement of in-depth knowledge in the specialty. It also is a professional commitment to the standards of periodontics. Diplomates of the American Board of Periodontology are required to continually update their knowledge and skills through continuing education and periodic testing.

Dr. Kristen Frantz: Eastman Institute for Oral Health’s First Graduate in Combined Program
For Dr. Kristen Frantz (BS ’12, Perio ’19, Prostho ’21, MS ’21), it will be working with her friends every day that she will miss most after graduation.
The Scranton, PA native is wrapping up five and a half years at Eastman, earning a master’s degree and her Periodontics and Prosthodontics Certificates, the first one to graduate from the new combined program.
She began predoctoral studies at the University of Rochester, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and Minor in Music in 2012. She then went to dental school at Temple University Kornberg School of Dentistry and then returned to EIOH in 2016 for a combined residency program in Periodontics and Prosthodontics. During that time, she won the Gerald N. Graser Award at the AADR meeting in 2019 for Outstanding Clinical Case Series, as well as third place for Best Clinical Poster at the American Prosthodontic Society meeting in 2020.
The Scranton District Dental Society is pleased to announce that Thomas A. Langan Jr. D.M.D., M.S., has assumed the Presidency for the 2021 term. A native of Clarks Summit, Dr. Langan has been practicing periodontics in Northeastern Pennsylvania since 2016. He is currently serving patients at Perio Health and Dental Implants with locations in Dunmore and Honesdale.
Dr. Langan earned his D.M.D. from the Temple University after graduating from the University of Scranton with majors in Biology and Philosophy. He completed a residency in Periodontics at Temple University and completed a master’s in oral microbiology.
Dr. Langan lives in Clarks Summit with his wife Kristen Epting, their son Thomas III, and they are expecting a little girl in August 2021.

ADHA Honors 2018 AAP at Dental Hygiene Symposium
At its 2019 annual conference in Louisville, the American Dental Hygienist Association (ADHA) honored the AAP, Dr. Bryan Frantz with a presidential citation in recognition of the 2018 Dental Hygiene Symposium at the annual meeting in Vancouver. The symposium was planned in collaboration with the ADHA and Canadian Association of Dental Hygienists and attracted over 200 attendees.
Navigation Surgery for Dental Implants
Drs. Bryan Frantz and Thomas Langan are very excited to announce the introduction of navigational surgery for dental implant placement to their practice. Several cases were successfully completed today. This amazing technology allows for very precise implant placement, maximizes esthetic tooth accuracy, and minimizing surgical risk to the patient. Thanks to our patients, amazing team of assistants, Deb, Kym and Ashley, and to our instructor, Michele Sweet, from XNav Technologies.
